The engagement additionally centered around conceptual space utilization and programming for the Bronx Community College Campus, as well as design and construction administration services for the new North Instructional Building, located next to the Gould Memorial Library—completing the north end of the original campus quadrangle. The new facility provides 92,000 gross square feet of space for classroom instruction and a new campus library. Scope also included the redesign and construction of the Central Quadrangle.
Services involved circulation and safety study; roadway design, including pavement, traffic table, raised crosswalks, pavement markings, and signage; stormwater management and drainage design; sewer design and connection; bioswale and bioretention design; rainwater harvesting; extensive utilities relocation and design including underground vaults; grading; streetscape; erosion and sedimentation control; retaining wall design; chiller and new outlet structure design; new electric/permanent power additional service; site lighting conduit design; and fencing design.
Work also involved LEED computations and filing assistance with the Green Building Certification Institute, coordination with agencies such as the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, NYC Department of Environmental Protection, NYC Department of Transportation, and the NY Power Authority.
