The US Green Building Council (USGBC) announced a call for proposals to solicit feedback and concepts for the next version of LEED. LEED is updated through a continuous improvement process and with each new version the USGBC is evolving LEED’s approach and challenging the building sector to be more resource efficient and sustainable. The call for proposals is a new addition to the process. A similar request in 2018 yielded over 250 significant ideas for the evolution of LEED. USGBC was able to use many of these in LEED v4.1 in April 2019 when the rating systems were released. To submit a proposal, use the council’s website. Proposals must be specific, technical in nature, and in the form of edits to existing LEED language using USGBC tools. Proposals must also provide a rationale and technical justification for each change.
