The digital future of urban water management

 

 

The US water infrastructure is at least 50 years old and the American Society of Civil Engineers estimates that there are 240,000 water main breaks in American cities each year. Under the pressure of climate change and aging pipes, many cities are turning to new technologies to improve their water management. Digital Water, a recent white paper by the International Water Association and Xylem Inc., has mapped the efforts to employ new digital technologies to improve the water infrastructure across the US, highlighting the lessons learned.
