San Francisco to power all large commercial buildings with renewable energy by 2030


San Francisco marked this year’s Earth Day with a bold announcement: by 2030 all the commercial buildings larger than 50,000 sqf  must switch to renewable energy.

The plan calls for the City’s largest commercial buildings to procure 100 percent renewable electricity from any of the City’s electricity providers by 2022. Then, starting in 2024, additional buildings would be subject to the requirement, eventually encompassing all commercial buildings 50,000 square feet or larger.
