Rethinking green infrastructure

 

Forests, wetlands, urban green spaces, and sustainable farms are the source of clean water for most cities; however, the debate on green infrastructure usually focuses on pipes, pumps and treatment plants. In his article, Jan Cassen of the Forest Trends Water Initiative argues that natural resources should be treated and safeguarded as part of the city infrastructure, just as valuable as roads, dams, levees, and wastewater treatment plants.
