This week Lightyear, a pioneer in clean mobility, introduced the first long-range solar car. The prototype was presented to investors, customers, partners and press at dawn in Katwijk, the Netherlands. Lightyear One has been engineered to optimize efficiency and safety. It has a longer battery range than its competitors and charges whenever it’s in the sun. Through fast charging, it can charge up to 570km worth of energy within an hour and with a simple 230V outlet, it’s even possible to charge up to 350km worth of energy overnight. The first 100 owners can order a Pioneer Edition for $ 170,000 (€ 149,000) for delivery in early 2021.
