Chicago to expand Smart Lightning Program with 40k LED streetlights

 

Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced the start of the next phase of Chicago’s streetlight modernization program, the Chicago Smart Lighting Program (CSLP), which includes the installation of an additional 40,000 new LED streetlights in neighborhoods across the City. Chicagoans will save an estimated $100 million over the next ten years thanks to the energy efficiency of the new lights, which consume 50-75 percent less electricity than outdated High Pressure Sodium street lights.
